The Hotel Bahia del Sol, on The Costa del Sol, had the honor of being the host of the edition 28 of the International Tournament Fishing the Marlin. In an event that ended on Monday, November 14 with an exciting awards ceremony, one of the international competitions most prominent in the world of sport fishing.
This tournament, which took place from 11 to 14 November, surpassed all the expectations of the fans of fishing. During those days, the event brought together approximately 800 participants and counted with the participation of 26 vessels, which came in both of our country as well as neighboring countries such as Guatemala, Costa Rica and the united States. The exciting days of fishing began early, at 4 am in the morning, and concluded with the return of the boats between 3:30 and 5:30 in the afternoon, full of stories and challenges.
The big surprise came with the boat Rumba, which is crowned as the absolute winner of the International Tournament Fishing Marlin 2022. The competition took place under the rules of the IGFA, with the presence of about 20 international observers that ensured a competitive environment fair.
The awards ceremony does not only acknowledged the champions in various categories, but also children and young people under the age of 17 years who were part of the crew, encouraging the next generation of fishermen. The culmination of the event came with the announcement of the vessels with the highest score in the three main divisions.
Throughout the tournament, they released a total of 818 sailfish and 12 fish Marlin, emphasizing commitment to the preservation of the marine species. Michael Nasser, representative of the vessel Rumba, shared his enthusiasm: "it Has been a tournament incredible and very competitive. We had the fortune of having a good first day with 53 sails released and a second with more than 30 candles. This was key to allowing us to achieve the prize of a Winner".
Group Corven is working tirelessly in the next edition, scheduled for 2023.
